You were a big reason for me starting a blog as an extension of my Instagram page. I created this blog, called The Field Guide, as a way to connect with you deeper and offer a place where you will feel inspired to lead a more intentional and fulfilled life. I love the farmhouse lifestyle. To me it’s more than just a trend but a way of living that I desire. I think it’s so enduring because its a style that says “come just as you are.” It creates a sense of gathering filled with coziness and comfort in its laid back simple appeal. If you are here, I think you feel the same way I do.

I also wanted to gather everything in one spot to help you find the answers to the questions that you were looking for. For instance, one of my top weekly questions is about my paint colors. Now, you can go to the “Tour Our Home” page and find them in one place. No more searching through hundreds of Instagram comments for them. So, I will be continuing to add resources here. If you have a question please add it to the bottom of any blog post so I can add it to the site. Most likely, if you are asking then someone else is wondering the same thing.

I’m farmhouse style through and through but with a little bit of rustic and primitive. Nothing fancy. My farmhouse style is filled with imperfections and age-worn distressing for that more lived-in rustic appeal. Just like the galvanized and zinc buckets you see on my fall porch here. I am always on the hunt to add another bucket to my growing collection. Since they are all vintage, it would be a little boring to find one that was perfect. Over the summer, I went to a moving sale and what do I take home? Old buckets, that were not apart of the sale, instead were in the rubbish of the yard. It was a score, for both of us. These buckets are great for so many purposes and to me, they just fit right into the farmhouse country style.

I love decorating our porch each season but usually just keep everything under the porch. Yet, this year I wanted to overflow our porch steps with pumpkins. This year was also the first year I’ve gone with an all-over burnt orange color palette. My inspiration was to have a warm traditional look with a classic appeal. I love how it pops against our white farmhouse and creates an inviting welcome. Adding in the galvanized with the hay bale texture is something unexpected but adds in the rustic farmhouse feel. One of the sweet comments on Instagram said, “it feels like an old-time hayride in the fall.” Love that!

I’d also like to give a big, huge thank you to my website developer turned friend. I had searched for quite some time looking for the right person to come alongside of me and help turn my ideas into a reality. I had interviewed lots of other amazing talents but still was asking God to help me find the right person for me. He did just that when I found Rachel from Intentionally Designed. She is a brilliant strategist at growing visionaries into brands. I’ve been so impressed with her abilities every step of the way. She is over the top, in the best kind of way, organized, smart, patient and so kind and she makes the best tutorials. I have learned so much from her. She gently guided me every step of the way. I have been truly blessed by her and couldn’t have done this on my own. There’s so much that goes into creating something from nothing and I’m forever grateful she was along for my journey.

The investment in pursuing your dreams is worth the effort.

So, come on into whitetail farmhouse, thank you for being here.
