Your Guide To The Best Faux Plants

It’s no secret that I adore everything plants but sometimes real plants can’t fit in every spot that I would prefer, like up high. I have real thriving plants all over our home, including large Fiddle Leaf Fig trees (I’ve lost count), and the majority of the plants have been in our home for two years! That’s a huge accomplishment in my book! Yet, I had a couple spots that were hard to keep a plant thriving in. So I made it a mission to hunt for the best faux plants and created this amazing roundup to share with you. Because let’s be real, real plants aren’t for everyone or every lifestyle, they take a good amount of attention and lots of natural light, but when you have to go faux it should look really good!!

Let’s look at the benefits of faux plants. I love that they can be put in any container with no worries. I love using baskets, pottery, ironstone, wood crates and other vintage containers. Of course another benefit is low maintenance, I mean, really, the only thing that would need to be done is a light dusting. They are super easy and faux plants have really increased with their quality. I think more designers are using them and they are having a moment in design. However, not all faux plants are created equal, some have such a plastic-y look and then others are way too decorative where they just seem fake. So I am pretty particular when it comes to faux plants and I couldn’t be more excited to show you these amazing one’s that made the cut! Plus, I'm waiting for some of the others to arrive.

This trailing Silver Philodendron plant is a top favorite! I love the rich green color which makes it more real looking and with the little spots adds just enough dimension. It looks great in this vintage pottery bowl, which is a fun mix up from my real plant pots. Some of these plants are a little higher of a cost but the quality is high too which balances it out. This plant would look great up high on a shelve since it is trailing.

And this spot above is what started my mission to find real looking faux plants. I love having this hanging terra cotta pot with the leather handles here in this spot in our laundry room but I never could get a plant to thrive in this container because of the lack of water drainage and the leather straps so close but I think (I know) I struck gold now!! Don’t you agree?! This cascade of trailing vines is so lush that I actually want to water this thing! Kidding! It’s just that good. It’s a trailing Variegated String Of Hearts. It lands at my top choice and I think if you want to try one faux plant, then this is the one that I recommend you bring home for sure!!! This plant would be perfect in so many spots around our home so I will be ordering another.

Can you spot the faux?! There’s three plants in the pictures above and they all look real but one is a faux in the bunch. It’s the cute Pothos that I just slipped in this moss terra cotta pot. I love the large leaves of the Pothos and this plant is such a simple way to add a quick pop of greenery to any space. Greenery adds life to a room and gives it all the home-y cozy feels!!

Also this grouping of terra cotta pots were a nice unexpected surprise the other day when I went in to Michaels for one thing and walked out with these too. Don’t you love when that happens?! They are such a fabulous price too, and they come in three sizes, a win-win!

Here is another good trailing lush plant. It’s a Wandering Variegated Tradescantia plant, that looks so real. I love it overflowing this vintage ironstone bowl but it also looks great trailing down the hutch. So many options!
